long long message sorry folks read if interested otherwise skip! take care all
hi to all-please read the following carefully. this note will be long but it is crucial you read it all and understand it. thanks in advance for that and your interest in the league!
note that the league is not yet fully set up. all of the settings and scoring still needs to be done. and actually some of it is TBD.
example it is not a 4 keeper league. also with nothing being certain be it the NFL 2020 season(and what that will look like if it happens)or our own lives. and how individually this is or has impacted your physical/mental health and financial state. it is very understandable to be weary about doing a new venture. so upfront know that everyone including myself is in a pliable and ever changing state of being. no one will be held in any contempt at all for any absence or needing to withdraw from the league. in a way think of this as a set up year. everything from rosters/draft etc. will toll over to 2021. whether there is a 17 game nfl season or none at all. I personally believe some form of a 2020 season will be held. but dramatically different from what some are expecting.
so the league is 24 team. you choose an NFL franchise. you then keep as your property a limit and q max of that franchises players. this is TBD but expect in the range of 22-40. it is full IDP but non ppr. the starting positions with minor tweaking possible are qb-rb-rb-wr-wr-wr-te-wr/te-pk-p de/dt/de/lb/lb/lb/cb/cb/s/s covers basically a full lineup on the field.
after a cut off point. you will no longer have any formal affiliation. you can change your tm name then etc. note you will not have any rights to the 2020 draftees of your starting franchise. I would of liked to have done a full start up draft. but with 24 tms and 40 man rosters a 960 pick email draft was not happening. I cannot and will not ask anyone to preside over that!
year 1 here will be different in many ways than in the following years. this was all carefully considered and is staying. various reasoning is behind it.
year 1 no trades -again no trades. next year and beyond trades will be allowed but have a limit number. to reflect NFL reality.
year 1 is FAAB for waivers then standard thereafter. standard in year 2 and beyond is definite.
year 1 no practice squad. you get 40 rosters spots to do as you will with. following year a ps will be considered. but is not definite.
a transaction limit will exist from year 1 and forward. this may change from year 1 to a different number forward.
this is full dynasty so keeping your full roster will be available from the first season. no matter how the NFL season goes.
there are as stated above. some aspects TBD including some vital ones. including whether the draft(email)will be rookie only and then a FAAB of all other veteran/otherwise available players. which of course includes the 8 NFL franchises that will be not owned. or will there be 1 draft incl. 2020 rookies/all other available players. these areas and others currently TBD will be happening very soon. they are not exactly open for debate sorry on this. but things like time considerations and what flea is good and not good about handling. are going to into the final form it will take. thanks in advance for understanding and cooperation with that.
this will be (6) 4 team divisions with conference play (2) 12 tm conferences. only 4 teams per conference make the playoffs. 3 division winners and 1 wildcard. this is being done for several reasons. including setting up division rivalry. obviously making it more difficult and challenging to make the playoffs. to put a greater importance and standard on the regular season. also is a nod to the way the big 4 sports handled their leagues. with a small % of teams making the playoffs. TBD is what the rest of teams will do in the playoffs. some form of reward may be there for winning the other levels of playoffs on flea. this is fluid as of now.
if you have read this far bravo. now comes maybe the most important parts. to join this league you will have some vetting. this league is being started for people who truly love fantasy sports. and that already have experience and a track record of being a dedicated owner. you must understand and embrace a working knowledge of all 32 NFL rosters including their practice squads. in order to compete here. being self motivated to embrace the challenging format this is. and being able to truly build a franchise. and not only in for the results. meaning yes you want to win. but if your 1st or last every season. you do not change your approach and dedication to it all. after this season there will be a standard and enforcement of activity levels and rules adherence. for example you are required every week to field an active starting lineup. even if you must make roster moves to do so. this insures the integrity of the league. and also shows you care that the league and its health are bigger than your own interests. this is key every great league I have started or joined(and there has been a lot)has this quality. that yes it is very competitive with highly skilled people. but ultimately the league and its welfare as a whole comes first. this manifests in different ways at different times. and sometimes is hard to qualify or identify.
one last thing is please read all this and digest it. search yourself for this answer. from a time commitment stand point alone do I can I do it. I am looking for a yr. to yr. commitment only. many of you know but from a personal stance. I am not in good health over the last few years. and with that some hardship has come into my life. I do not want to venture into something that is not going to special or at least strive to be special. this is why I have started and stopped this many times. thank you in advance for understanding that and considering it if you join. a good league is only as good as its members. so if we get 24 like minded no drama/cheating/collusion people on board. it can be great!
by for now and one more thank you for your time and reading all this!!
