hi-hope everyone out there is ok?
we are in extraordinary and unprecedented times. the covid crisis continues to rage and the level of social upheaval is frightening.
those two subjects are affecting people in various amount of ways. for some it has little effect, for others the health(mentally and or physical) and financial issues are great.
my suggestions to the B.O.D and it is only SUGGESTION. it is not meant to be a debate or any kind of discourse. after these statements I will not be replying or posting on it etc.
1)special dispensations be given for those who can't/don't want to make free fantasy sports a priority. for 2020 season only:
no enforcement or shaming/retribution on activity levels including setting your lineup/adhering to roster and cap rules.
understanding and allowing for people to be in and out of participation in the league.
2)for those people needing/wanting to continue as normal. the following rules changes:
innings limit lowered-MLB if the do indeed have a full season will have all kinds of issues with starting pitching.
roster rules relaxed/changed to accommodate for what amounts to the MLB itself "streaming" it rosters due to opt outs and or virus infections(which will be a certainty. this is a salary cap and not a "streaming" type of league. there lies the rub.
3)consideration of cancelling the cobra 2020 season.
in my opinion MLB is a shit show in how they are/will be handling this crisis.. they are also very irresponsible in their approach to have a season. it will encourage and spread the virus and that is preventable by cancelling all activities/season. there will likely be lawsuits and deaths because of this coming.
yes free fantasy sports is a hobby and one I have made part of my life for many many years. and it can and I hope it does bring comfort, enjoyment and distraction to people including any of us. but priorities is the key subject. people want to and can make this a day to day proposition fine and I hope they can. but if people want to go in and out of it or not do it altogether. should be fine too.
from a competitive standpoint. a 7 week season with MLB upheaval with their own rosters with opt outs and covid cases/any all other health issues. has no appeal for me. I will participate as I can and I hope it is to my normal standards. but if not the case so be it.
thanks for your time and reading this long message-take care everyone, Dave D
