1. The Scoring Cats should not have repetitive cats, these need an update seriously.
2. Free Agency Changes, I am proposing that once a player on a team roster reaches 6 years MLB experience and their league contract expires, then they become true league free agents, this would include league won free agents as well. Those players would go into a league free agent pool that would open up the league Free agent bidding during spring training. Contract length would be anywhere from 1-5 years announced by the GM in the signing announcement and would still count at the winning bid for the contract's duration. A buyout option would be available for these players as well and could be included for multiple year contracts at 50% of the yearly contract amounts. 1 year Free agent contracts would be for the full amount of the won contract terms. 3. Rookie Draft cut to one Round and only inlude players from the previous season mlb minor league draft and not international signed players.
Well start with these 3 thoughts before we discuss more possible changes.

1. Agree 2. I will never be for this. That's a no from me. 3 agree but it has to be the 2022 draft since 2021 picks have already been dealt.

1. Will agree that all scoring cats need review. 2. Disagree. Why should a young player who enters free agency after his 6th year be treated any differently than a veteran whose contract expired? If you own either, you make the decision as to whether to keep him at new salary. 3. Agree for 2022, but international free agents should only be those who have played in a professional league in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, or are Cuban defectors. And those players should be clearly identified before the draft.

Free Agency should be more like real baseball. If a player becomes a free agent in MLB and his contact is the same in Cobra he should be a Free agent as well. In MLB players have arbitration at 3 years and can become Free agents at 6 years if not signed to a long term deal. Why not Free agency in Cobra if they become Free agents in MLB and are not a locked free agent signed player? Çobra Free agency is barely useful unless a star player is cut due to salary constraints or you find a good player who ends up having a career season or gets on a team that gives them great opportunity to produce? Also it makes it very hard for teams to get good enough to compete if their minor league player pool is poorly run by their MLB organization.

Because cap leagues are already inundated with tons of rules. Any rules you're likely to come up with in this realm are going to be complicated and will take away. This league, is already a beast to handle?
I admire the sentiment, but I disagree and just will never be for "true free agency".
At some point we have to draw a line in the sand and say this is fantasy. Trying to do those spreadsheets and enforcing rules will be a pain and not worth it.
One way to improve the free agent pool, in my opinion, is to go to 18 teams. We have enough trouble filling those spots. As it stands, we can drop pirates and nats and be okay.

Rules can be simplified, cutting league down in size is also a short term answer for free agency. The league did that for a year in the past and it wasn't any better in my opinion so I don't think that's the answer to the Free agency issue in the long run. Most super star players get a long term deal before their 6th MLB season. With the opportunity to increase or decrease the standard Free agent contract, this will give teams the flexibility to work with the Cap space you've created in your Cap formula. This has become such a dynasty league with the increased Cap limits (low/high) that teams now trade for Cap more than talent. And still not all teams are Cap compliant unless they over pay in Free agency as they know in 3 years in most cases they'll get the Cap space back when the player's contract resets to the real life player salary..
I'd like to hear Nate's and Jeff's thoughts hear as well, maybe some suggestions for my suggestions? The full Board needs to work on these ideas, as each might have an idea to improve these proposals? The sooner we can come up with changes the better to announce them to the league for implication.
